HERFON was one of the 23 organizations selected out of over 200 that applied for the RISE UP Advocacy and Leadership Accelerator Training Workshop which was conducted between March 4-9, 2024. The workshop is specifically designed for indigenous NGOs to raise visionary leader between ages 18-60 years to strategically advocate for improved laws and policies in Nigeria.
Rise Up, with headquarters in the USA, is a global nonprofit organization with presence in almost all the continents of the world. The organization’s celebration of its achievements in 10 years of existence in Nigeria and 15 years from inception in the week of International Women’s Day (IWD) – March 8. The training in Abuja Nigeria this March 2024 was to advance the capacity of participant civil societies to advocate for advance gender equity and justice in Nigeria.
This recently concluded intensive six-day training covered teambuilding, gender issues and diversity, the use of leadership arc and diversity, advocacy planning steps and methodologies, political mapping, analysis of political process and development of Expected Advocacy Results (EAR) and objectives that are SMARTIE among other topics.
HERFON was represented by its Program Manager who will in turn cascade this training to the HERFON team. It is worthy of note that Rise-Up will competitively award a grant of $17,000 USD to some of the participating civil societies. HERFON, with the capacity of its staff well strengthened to respond to the RFP, will respond accordingly.
